Dr George Nicola graduated from medical school and progressed to postgraduate training in medicine and surgery at various hospitals in NSW and overseas. He joined the College of General Practitioners and successfully completed the formal training as a General Practitioner when he gained the fellowship of the college in 1998.
Soon after, he founded Ashton Medical Practice in Rockdale, and for the following 10 years has worked tirelessly on the general health issues of the local community, gaining their respect and achieving a reputation as a caring and competent primary healthcare physician.
While still working as a GP, he developed a special interest in phlebology; the medicine of treating veins. He joined the Australasian College of Phlebology in 2008 and gained a graduate certificate in sclerotherapy. During that time, Dr George Nicola also developed competency in performing and interpreting Doppler ultrasound examination, which is necessary for the diagnosis and ongoing successful treatment of many venous diseases. He successfully completed a graduate certificate of health science in ultrasound from Charles Sturt University and a certificate of ultrasound in Phlebology. In addition, Dr George Nicola completed a Post Graduate Diploma of Procedural Phlebology. This highly specialist training has enabled Dr. Nicola to become an expert in the field of phlebology and perform procedures such as Endovascular Laser Ablation (EVLA), Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy (UGS) and Microsclerotherapy.
