Diagnosis we offer to treat the condition of Spider Veins?

Diagnosis is easily established by direct vision. However, it is prudent to check the underlying larger veins if they are normally functioning or not as leaving incompetent veins behind which are pushing blood into these veins will impact on the success of the treatment of these visible veins.

At Bondi Vein Clinic, the doctor will run through assessment of the superficial venous network during the initial consultation using a Doppler Ultrasound to ascertain the status of the network and advise you of an individualised plan to successfully treat these veins to achieve the desired results.

Prevention of Spider Veins

There are a few self-care tips that you may want to take into consideration that may help with the prevention of new spider veins appearing or from getting more severe. Some self-care tips may include:

Maintaining a Healthy Diet This may help reducing pressure on the small blood vessel veins and allows the blood to flow consistently and well.

Avoiding Tight Clothing-  Attire that is not too tight around the waist, pelvis and or legs to avoid blood flow being restricted [may lead to spider veins]

Reduction of Alcohol Consumption- Can lead to flushing in the body such as in the face.

Daily Physical Activity – To prevent blood from pooling in the waist, pelvis or legs and improves blood flow circulation.

Elevation of the legs- Sitting or lying down can help prevent spider veins and blood flow in the body. Simply raise your legs when sitting or sleeping.

Wearing Sunscreen- Make it a daily habit to apply sunscreen to prevent spider veins [particularly around the face area]. Use sun protective clothing and hats always when outdoors.
